The development of this new educational campus will provide an American model of education for children residing in Sharjah and the surrounding Emirates. As an international school for pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 students, it is expected that the facilities will support high standards of excellence and integrity through the Diploma and International Baccalaureate programs offered. Located on a trapezoidal shaped site, the new 350,000 sf campus derives it’s inspiration from a student centered environment of buildings organized along a linear pedestrian street. Central to this street is a main administrative building that has been combined with multi-purpose facilities to create a dual gateway to the campus. Also centrally located on the opposite side of the pedestrian street is a 1200 seat auditorium, library resource centre and large cafeteria. Flanking these central buildings are separate academic buildings housing Early Childhood Education, an Elementary School, a Middle School and a High School. An athletics precinct has also been created anchored by a Physical Education building with gyms and pool, as well as a track & field stadium. Making reference to local architectural traditions, the minimalist and modernist language of this school campus is based on courtyard buildings that are light in colour and mindful of solar shading principles to minimize energy consumption in this extreme climate.
