Hershey Centre Sports Complex

Mississauga, Canada

Phase One: The Ontario Hockey League’s Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors make their home in this multi-award winning complex.  Phase One consists of a 5,400-seat stadium and one community ice rink.  The main stadium can accommodate major sporting events, trade shows and entertainment activities. The facility also includes 27 private box suites, a club lounge, a public restaurant and offices and various retail shops.  Phase One was completed in 12 short months using a fast-track mode of construction management.

Phase Two: Our team was re-engaged to add two new community rinks alongside the existing single pad rink completed as part of Phase One. There are back-to-back central support spines in both levels in this expansion. The grade level serves the players and includes access to change areas. The upper level serves the spectators and includes tiered seating for 300 people/rink. A generous concessions area supports the open viewing areas on the upper level. The casual seating areas have clear views of the ice.

Phase Three: This new three-storey, multi-purpose facility has been designed to accommodate city-wide recreation programs and sports tournaments; including a FIFA-sized indoor soccer field with 60 feet of clear ceiling height. Other major program spaces include a triple gymnasium and a competition quality gymnastics facility for amateur and elite athletes and an athletic fieldhouse.  All new facilities are attached to the existing Hershey Centre.  All three phases were completed in joint venture with Parkin Architects Ltd.
