London, Ontario, Canada
This revitalized Southern Ontario regional airport facility is now capable of servicing airlines on a domestic and international/trans-border/charter basis. The $20M expansion of the passenger terminal was a result of increased passenger loads and a desire to re-brand its public image within the aviation and business industry.
As a means of addressing this challenge, the new addition stretches across the ground side façade of the existing terminal providing a new entrance concourse, enlarged passenger holding room, new departure and arrival gates and offices for the Airport Authority. An overarching canopy spans across the pick-up/drop-off drive aisle, protruding against the backdrop of the transparent concourse. Phased construction techniques were successfully implemented allowing the terminal to remain fully operational during construction. (in joint venture with Tillman Ruth Mocellin).
